At this stage, based on my experience using Chat GPT, Google's generative AI search, and a handful of AI writing tools, the output is more than just dull, soulless, or artificial to read. It is often riddled with errors.

Having to identify those errors, fact-check them, and correct machine-generated copy isn't enjoyable at all. In fact, it's one WTF moment after another, and that makes it a source of stress and aggravation that I don't need.

Right now, trusting AI is like working with a freelancer who half-asses it, or driving a car with an overly sensitive lane-keeping assist system. No thanks. It's more enjoyable to write my own copy, and to drive without half-baked technology unnecessarily intervening.

As such, I applaud Medium's recent changes. There are no shortcuts to greatness. Only mediocrity. Yet we continue pursuing every shortcut we find, don't we?
